- Staff · August 2, 2024When this property was developed, a survey revealed that a portion of the alley, as it existed, was ten feet off from its legal position. Now that the building is complete the developer wishes to asphalt-surface the alley as soon as possible. In order to do that, a sub-grade must be prepared in the correct location, which involves removing a ten-foot wide by +/- 40-foot long strip of bushes and small trees that invaded where the alley should have been for several years but was not. According to Roland Harris, the developer, in agreement with City of Richmond, will handle all regrading and surface improvement. They would like us to remove the section of bushes and trees that stand in the way of relocation. Attached photos show what needs to be removed, with stakes marking the edge of “new” (correct) alley. What’s to the left of the stakes needs to go - stumps, roots, and all. In addition, there is some overgrowth behind 1704 N 29th (see location map, attached) that should be trimmed back to the property line so it doesn’t interfere. (This is just a Right-Of-Way cut, trimming not digging up; it’s not actually growing in the alley, just into it.) Extent of overgrowth is 2 to 3 feet deep, by 50 feet long, by 7 or 8 feet off the ground.
