Description

There needs to be a speed table between Maplewood and Idlewood. The speed table between Maplewood and Grant does not calm northbound traffic on the 500 block of S Sheppard because most traffic is coming from Maplewood. The all-way stop does not calm traffic either. Please please please perform an actual speed survey on this block. There are often children playing on this block and many many speeders. Again, the current measures are not effective on this block. Please reassess.

DPW will request speed samples on S. Sheppard St between Idlewood Ave and Maplewood Ave. All speed samples are outsourced so it may take a few months before we receive the data.
  • Staff · October 16, 2024
The 85th percentile speed, the speed that 85 percent of drivers travel at or below, is one of the best indicators of a reasonable and safe speed. The 85th percentile speed samples on Sheppard St between Idlewood Ave and Maplewood Ave measured 21 mph. The speed samples are in general compliance with the 25-mph speed for residential streets and speed tables are not planned on Sheppard St between Idlewood Ave and Maplewood Ave.
