Description
Yhis sogn is comleyely gone again. Lasted abojt a day. My entire fakily of 2 adults and 2 toddlers were almost struck by a vehicle while crossing the street today. It has happened at least 10 times in the past month. Why should we continue living in the city if the city is not even trying to keep our children safe? Obviously the sign to stop doesnt work. It literally lasts 24hrs every time its replaced. How many accidents need to happen at this intersection before a traffic light is installed?

- Staff · June 10, 2025Dear Citizen, Thank you for sharing your concerns regarding pedestrian safety at this intersection. I fully understand your frustration and the importance of ensuring a safe environment for your family and all pedestrians. We have conducted a thorough signal warrant analysis following the criteria set forth by the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD), as well as reviewing the latest crash data from VDOT and DMV. Based on this analysis, the installation of a traffic signal is not currently warranted at this location. The MUTCD provides specific guidelines for when traffic signals should be installed to ensure they are used effectively and safely. At this time, the data does not meet those thresholds, but we will continue to monitor traffic and safety conditions closely. We will review the situation again in one year to see if any new data or changes justify further action. For now, no additional measures are necessary, and I am closing this service request. Your safety and that of the community is a priority, and we encourage you to report any further concerns or incidents. Thank you for your understanding and for helping us maintain safe streets.
