Description
Speeding on Monument Avenue between Arthur Ashe Boulevard and I-195 is getting out of hand. This is a residential street with houses much closer to the street than other neighborhoods. Pedestrians, cyclists, and others are constantly under threat from cars driving in excess of 50mph when the speed limit is 30mph. Its not only dangerous, but also making this stretch of Monument Avenue unpleasant. Traffic has increased significantly as drivers avoid Broad because of the Pulse.

- Staff · July 24, 2024Traffic calming measures are not supported by the Fire Marshall since Monument is an urban minor arterial, carries around 14,000 vehicles a day and is a strategic route for emergency vehicles. For speed enforcement, please contact the Richmond Police Department.
