Description

The roadway of Southcliff is heavily used by pedestrians because our street doesn’t have sidewalks and the right-of-way is lined with mature trees. Additionally the road has poor visibility due to a blind crest of the hill along with car parking on both sides of the street. Residents request multiple speed bumps, a stop sign, and reduced speed to 15mph. Diagram and letter attached.

The Fire Marshall does not support traffic calming measures on Southcliff Rd between New Kent Ave and Riverside Dr because this is a strategic street for emergency vehicles between these two corridors. DPW will ensure 25mph signs are posted in each travel direction.
