Description
After the city’s approval of Hogwash, now Flagstop Car Wash, The stretch of Sauer Avenue between Monument Avenue and Broad Street has experienced a consistent increase in traffic. In particular, traffic passing through speeds excessively, despite stop signs. This request is to assess the amount and degree to which the speeding occurs so that a series of traffic circles, speed humps, or flashing crosswalks can be installed.

- Staff · June 5, 2024Sauer Ave between Monument Ave and Broad St stops at Monument, Grace, Cutshaw, Augusta and Broad. The focused approach on speed management in the City’s Neighborhood Traffic Management Program first considers the distance of a free flow street of at least 1200’ in length in a tangent section without traffic signals, existing traffic calming measures or stopped conditions on the major street. Traffic calming measures such as traffic circles and speed tables are not currently planned on Sauer Ave given all the stopped conditions along the corridor. Flashing crosswalks are capital improvements and not in the adopted Capital Improvement Budget.
