Description

Wellington Street is almost two blocks long and needs speed humps. Vehicles, including school buses, speed at 40-60 MPH down Wellington Street and do not stop at the stop sign at Fourqurean Lane. At least 9 residents' parked cars have been totaled by speeders losing control. Children and pets live in this neighborhood.

    The 85th percentile speed, the speed that 85 percent of drivers travel at or below, is one of the best indicators of a reasonable and safe speed. The 85th percentile speed on Wellington St for a 48-hour period was 27 mph. This sample is in compliance with the 25-mph speed for residential streets. We do not have plans to install speed tables.
