Description

There is a sunken/dropped sidewalk block in front the walkway to the shop - Carytown Dolls and Bears (3457 West Cary St 23221, RVA.) We have reported this on numerous occasions over the last several years - as yet the repair has not been made. The sidewalk block has dropped severely on one corner causing pedestrians to frequently trip and fall. This is dangerous! dangerous. Problem reported many times over past 8 yrs. Happy to see that the city has removed sinking sidewalk slab and begun repairs. Repair has been ongoing for about a month. The area being repaired is large and sectioned off with yellow hazard tape/orange safety cones. This deep excavation hole is beginning to fill up with trash/debris. Will repairs be completed for Carytown Watermelon Festival 8/11/024? Large crowd expected. This could be a hazard. Plan to open shop for festival. Please advise. . Called RVA Dept of Utilities 311 to report that the sidewalk repair begun 5/8/2024 at our shop Carytown Dolls and Bears - 3457 W. Cary Street 23221 has not as yet been completed. It has been over 3 months and there is still a gaping hole in front of our shop completely blocking the walkway to the shop. The hole dug by the city is about 4 feet deep. The orange cones and yellow tape place around the hole by the repair crew have fallen into the hole. This is dangerous Carytown sidewalk hazard.
