Description
Same request was made to councilor Lambert and Kiya Stokes said to forward to 311: Req. change traffic liggt from Brookland Park Blvd to North from current No Left Turn to a light-controlled left turn with green arrow. Is this already from North to BPB. Current situation causes pedestrian unsafety and undue alley wear at alleys preceding intersection. Traffic that goes around left-turners also reduces safety. Additional traffic calming on street: 4way stop at RCHS, traffic light at R-H Tnpk

- Staff · May 6, 2024The Department of Public Works must perform engineering studies in accordance with the Federal Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) before installing an all-way stop. All all-way stops must meet the warrants in the MUTCD. Brookland Park Blvd and the Richmond Community High School traffic does not meet the traffic volume requirements for an all-way stop. DPW must also perform engineering studies and use the MUTCD for new traffic signal studies. The intersection of Brookland Park Blvd and the Richmond Henrico Turnpike does not meet the necessary warrants in the MUTCD for a traffic signal. EB - Please review and respond to the request to change the traffic signal operations at Brookland Park Blvd and North Ave. - TB
- Staff · November 30, 2024This request is duplicated. Analisys and recommendation was made few months ago to keep the existing operation due to safety concern if left turn at Brookland Park is allowed. No further action is needed at this moment.
