Description
There is a tree in front of every house on east side of N 1st Street, except mine. There was a shade tree in front of the house when Photograph 1, taken by John Zehmer, was published on page 175 of the 1978 survey "Jackson Ward Historic District," conducted for the City of Richmond by the Department of Planning and Community Development. Photo 2 shows sidewalk depression, today, where tree once grew; photos 3 and 4 are views up and down N 1st St from the sidewalk in front of my house.
