Description
Henrico County Police Officers suggested this. I request that RVA DPW & VDOT “paint” the words “NO MERGE LANE” on the paved surface of the North-bound “On-ramp” where Riverside Drive abruptly merges with Huguenot Road / State Route 147. NO anticipated full “merge lane” is available. Motorists “down-hill” of the merging vehicle often become annoyed and aggressive when the leading vehicle stops. PLEASE HELP with “NO MERGE Lane” information.

- Staff · May 6, 2024An eight-year search of the DMV crash data base shows one reported “rear end” crash near the Yield sign on the ramp from Riverside Dr to the Huguenot River Bridge northbound. The sight distance as one Yields from this ramp exceeds the minimum standard. This same on-ramp has a Yield Ahead sign, chevrons, two No Left Turn signs and Yield pavement markings. A “No Merge Lane” pavement message is not currently planned.
