Description
Traffic signal for northbound lanes on S 14th St turn green before southbound lanes; this causes confusion for vehicles turning left onto E Canal St. The traffic signals are out of sync and causing a potentially dangerous situation when vehicles start to turn left (because their light is green) at the same time the southbound signal turns green. It seems like the northbound and southbound lanes should turn green at exactly the same time to avoid confusion and danger for drivers.

- Staff · July 5, 2024The intersection is working as designed. Due to the proximity of those three intersections (Dock, Canal & Cary) and the huge amount of traffic, it is hard to serve all the approaches efficiently. This corridor is oversaturated and will need a widening project to accommodate the demand of traffic. No further action is needed at this moment.
