Description

Grove & Colonial Ave. This is a commonly used crosswalk for pedestrians to cross Grove Avenue and access the VMFA garden entrance. Vehicles rarely stop for pedestrians at this location. There’s a notable amout of vehicle collisions here too, as it’s difficult for vehicles on Colonial Ave to see around the corner (and around large delivery trucks for the VMFA) when turning onto Grove Avenue. Please consider a speed control measure to make this crossing safer for pedestrians and vehicles alike.

A speed table is a capital improvement and is not in the capital improvement program budget for Grove Ave. The latest nine years of crash data (1.1.15-12.31.23) from DMV does not show any reported pedestrian crashes on Grove Ave at Colonial Ave. The crosswalk on Grove at Colonial is marked and has No Parking signs on both the north and south curb to enhance sight distance.
