Description

Recently, street signs have gone up on Bunting Avenue indicating the imminent installation of a speed bump. The apparent location of the speed bump, as indicated by the signs will be completely ineffectual as it is 50 feet from an existing stop sign. The more effective location for the speed bump would be between Stuart Avenue and Hanover Avenue as this is where traffic attains its highest speed (sometimes 35-40 mph). I left out a digit in my previous assessment of the distance from the proposed speed bump to the stop sign. I meant 150 feet, not 50 feet. I have since measured the distance and it is 180 feet. Nonetheless, my assessment still stands. The proposed speed bump location will not be effective. The speed bump needs to be between Stuart Avenue and Hanover Avenue about 50 feet north of the Hanover intersection.
