Description
The Carytown South neighborhood needs all-way stop signs at each intersection along Psrkwood Avenue, beginning at Parkwood & Sheppard all the way up to Parkwood & Freeman. The intersection at Parkwood & McCloy is esoecialky dangerous. We have beennrequesting all-way stops for years. Pmease help our neighborhood be safe. So many other areas with less pedestrian traffic have this. We dont understand why it is taking so long for our area. Thanks

- Staff · March 25, 2024The Department of Public Works must perform engineering studies in accordance with the Federal Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) before installing an all-way stop. All all-way stops must meet the warrants in the MUTCD. None of the intersections with Parkwood Ave between Sheppard to Freeman meet the traffic requirements for an all-way stop. The traffic volumes on the free flow street and the stopped street at each intersection must be at a certain level for each hour for eight hours of a weekday to meet the requirements of the MUTCD all-way stop warrants. For example, the free flow street must have 300 or more vehicles an hour for an eight-hour period. At the same time the stopped street must have 200 or more vehicles an hour for an eight-hour period. Both traffic conditions must be met and none of these intersections meet these conditions.
