It's so dangerous to be a pedestrian here. Cars are coming off the highway at 50+ MPH or flying down the hill. Need something to slow traffic for pedestrians to make it safer for them to get to Brown's Island, CoStar and the Federal building.

It’s unacceptable that people driving their cars hit people who are walking, rolling, and cycling. Dangerous driving is a citywide problem, and people not protected by vehicles are most susceptible to injury and death. The City of Richmond is committed to a multidisciplinary strategy to eliminate all traffic fatalities and severe injuries, while increasing safe, healthy, equitable mobility for all. From an engineering standpoint, the Department has implemented over 400 traffic calming projects, including 200 speed tables and 70 miles of roadway reconfigurations, or road diets. Changing behavior doesn’t happen overnight, but we diligently continue our combined efforts with other departments and private sector partners to protect human life.
