Description
Hello! I work from home and thus hear/see a lot of the traffic going by on Parkwood Ave. Several times every day, vehicles fly past at speeds that are way too high for a residential area. There is a stop sign at Parkwood & McCloy, but folks are clearly either blowing through it or accelerating immediately afterwards as there is no stop sign at Parkwood & Beaumont. I'd like to request a speed bump because it is only a matter of time until one of these drivers hurts someone else or themselves.

- Staff · March 14, 2024Parkwood Ave is one-way westbound between Colonial Ave and Nansemond St. Parkwood now stops at Sheppard St, Belmont Ave, McCloy St, Freeman Rd and Nansemond St. Parkwood between the stop at McCloy and the stop at Freeman is about 800’. The focused approach on speed management when considering a speed table in the City’s Neighborhood Traffic Management Program first considers the distance of a free flow street of at least 1200’ in length in a tangent section without traffic signals, existing traffic calming measures or stopped conditions on the major street. There are no plans to install a speed table on Parkwood.
