Description
We have a lot of cars that speed down Clay to catch the light at Belvidere. The problem is two fold: Most cross streets on Clay have stop signs; however, there is no stop sign at Henry & Clay. The light at Belvidere & Clay stays green for what seems like an extended period of time. What happens is: drivers who are making their way down Clay St. see that green light when they get to the stop sign at Monroe & Clay and then gun it, speeding down Clay to make the light to cross Belvidere.

- Staff · March 5, 2024The Department of Public Works must perform engineering studies in accordance with the Federal Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) before installing an all-way stop. All all-way stops must meet the warrants in the MUTCD. The intersection of Clay and Henry does not meet the traffic requirements for an all-way stop.
