Description

I live at 5th Ave. and Juniper St., which is a three-way stop. Aves 1-4 have speed humps to calm traffic, leaving 5th open for drivers to avoid the humps and fly down the street, sometimes at 45+ mph. Drivers also blow through the stop signs at 5th and Juniper all day and night. I have had multiple near misses getting in and out of my vehicle. A dog was hit last year and we have many elderly neighbors who cannot move fast enough to get out of the way of a speeding car. Please help.

Speed samples will be taken on 5th Ave to determine if speed tables are needed.

The 85th percentile speed, the speed that 85 percent of drivers travel at or below, is one of the best indicators of a reasonable and safe speed. The 85th percentile speed sample on 5th Ave measured 26mph. The speed sample is in general compliance with the 25-mph speed for residential streets and speed tables are not planned.
