Description

There was an accident today (2/4/2024) involving small children at this intersection. This is the second accident that I have seen here in the past year. People drive way too fast down E. Marshall and it is dangerous when attempting to cross E. Marshall on N. 22nd. It is difficult to see if the roadway is clear due to blindspots and parked cars. There needs to be 4-way stop signs at this intersection to prevent similar accidents occurring in the future.

The latest full seven years of crash data from DMV shows one cash in 2015 and one in 2021. From these records there are no recurring crash patterns within a study period. The focused approach on speed management in the City’s Neighborhood Traffic Management Program first considers the distance of a free flow street of at least 1200’ in length in a tangent section without traffic signals, existing traffic calming measures or stopped conditions on the major street. Marshall St stops at Jefferson Ave, 23rd St and 25th St. The distance between blocks measures about 300’. This does not meet the minimum distance for consideration of a speed table. Marshall between Jefferson St and 25th St is posted with 25mph signs in each direction of travel. The Department of Public Works (DPW) must perform engineering studies in accordance with the Federal Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) before installing an all-way stop. All all-way stops must meet the warrants in the MUTCD. The intersection of Marshall St and 22nd St does not meet the traffic requirements for an all-way stop. Each intersection corners on Marshall at 22nd have No Parking conditions to enhance intersection sight distance. ..Marshall St eastbound on the corners - West of at 22nd has a bus stop with No Parking - East of at 22nd has No Parking ..Marshall St westbound on the corners - East of 22nd has a fire hydrant (No Parking) - West of 22nd has No Parking
