Description

Cars frequently speed through East Clay up to the sidewalk. Poor visibility exists at the intersection for oncoming traffic, and many accidents happen here. There are also many pedestrians because of the various businesses located here. A speed bump would go a long way to ensure a safe neighborhood.

The focused approach on speed management in the City’s Neighborhood Traffic Management Program first considers the distance of a free flow street of at least 1200’ in length in a tangent section without traffic signals, existing traffic calming measures or stopped conditions on the major street. Clay St stops at 23rd St and at 25th St. The distance between these two intersections measures about 600’. This does not meet the minimum distance for consideration of a speed table. 25th St has No Parking signs on all four corners at Clay St to enhance intersection sight distance. Crosswalks are also planned at 25th St and Clay St.
