Description
Numerous vehicles travel down Allwood Ave at excessive speeds. Some of the traffic appears to be individuals using it as a cut through to avoid the traffic light at Warwick Rd and Broad Rock Blvd. The speed is a danger to the foot traffic, children at play, as well as individuals pulling out of their driveways. Speed table have been added to neighboring streets (Cooks Rd, Alaska Dr) and they would be beneficial on Allwood Ave as well.

- Staff · January 26, 2024The focused approach on speed management in the City’s Neighborhood Traffic Management Program first considers the distance of a free flow street of at least 1200’ in length in a tangent section without traffic signals, existing traffic calming measures or stopped conditions on the major street. The estimated distance on Allwood Ave between Warwick Rd and Cooks Rd is 960’ and does not meet the minimum distance for consideration of a speed table. DPW will plan to install 25mph signs in each direction of Allwood Ave.
