The Crash Analysis Tool developed by VDOT was used to gather crash data. The main source of the crash data is owned and maintained by DMV. The latest eight years of reported crashes do not show any ‘run-off-the-road’ type crashes in the area of the sports field near Cary/Harrison so this one may be the first reported crash. Evidently this crash report has not entered the VDOT data base so I cannot view the crash details. ‘Run-off-the-road’ type crashes may occur from speeding, imparted driving, distracted driving, etc. Given the lack of past crash history, notwithstanding the latest crash, I don’t see a need to install rail or bollards at the corner of Cary/Harrison.
