Description
This intersection needs a left turn arrow for both directions on Laburnum ASAP. I go through this intersection 4 times a day. It is so dangerous. People turning left pull into rhe intersection. People behind those trying to turn left honk at anyone who doesn’t pull into the intersection to wait and then speed around people in front of them (which makes it dangerous for those turning left from the other direction). It is also extremely hard to see around the cars to know when it is safe to turn.

- Staff · February 28, 2024It's important to note that crashes dropped substantially following the statue removal and subsequent modification of the Laburnum/Hermitage intersection. In late 2023, the Department developed several design concepts for the intersection. No additional funding has been allocated for design nor construction. The conceptual study will also inform the future improvements that may be funded in the near term, like the Fall Line Trail. In early 2024, safety cameras were installed as part of the City’s ongoing efforts to better manage speeding in school zones. Two cameras were installed near Holton Elementary: - Hermitage Rd northbound - Laburnum Ave westbound Speeders in this area will begin receiving summonses in the mail starting March 18, 2024.
