Description
Blind curve creates very unsafe conditions for pedestrians and vehicles. Southbound vehicles drift into oncoming traffic or the adjacent lane. 2 significant incidents since 8/23. 1) a car speeding southbound crashed into a northbound SUV. Both drivers were injured—if anyone had been crossing into Libby Park, it would've been lethal. 2) A vehicle jumped the curb at 2801, snapping a tree and destroying a light post. The installation of a speed hump and flashing signage would be a game-changer.

Comments

- Staff · October 24, 2023The DMV crash history for the last eight years do not show any reported pedestrian crashes on Main St in the curve near Pear St. Pedestrian crossing warning signs exist on Main St in both directions before the curve advising motorists of pedestrians crossing in a 1,000’ section. This same curve on Main St has curve warning signs with advisory 15mph speeds in both directions. DPW staff will field check to make sure all signs, centerline pavement markings and chevron signs are present/visible and in good condition.
