Description

The pedestrian hybrid beacon timing was slightly shortened, vut the wait is still too long. Kids are crossing the street and waiting in the middles median to cross. Since rhis PDH is constructed outside of the school zone, if rhere are rules on timing, they should be waived here. The PDH is used by some 3rd graders without parents present. Kids play on the corner while they wait and someond could easily fall into traffic since there is no kick out (LIP?) to the crosswalk. Please take 10s off.

Dear Citizen, Thank you for contacting us regarding the PHB. The PHB timing and design were developed in accordance with established engineering standards and national guidelines to ensure safe and consistent operation for all users. The current timing includes the required pedestrian clearance intervals based on roadway width and walking speed assumptions, and adjustments cannot be made outside of those standards. At this time, no further action is needed. We will continue to monitor the location as part of our routine operations, but the beacon is functioning as designed. I am closing this service request. Thank you for sharing your concerns and helping us maintain a safe transportation system.
