Description
This intersection should be a four-way stop because of its close proximity to Mary Munford Elementary School. I live at the corner at 4416 Stuart Ave and every morning and afternoon at least 70-80 parents and young children (at least half on bikes) walk/ride through this intersection on their way to/from school. Commonwealth has become a major cross road between Patterson and Grove, and cars are driving through here at 30+ miles an hour. Very concerned a young child will be injured or worse.

- Staff · October 24, 2023The Department of Public Works (DPW) must perform an engineering study in accordance with the Federal Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) before installing an all-way stop. All all-way stops must meet the warrants in the MUTCD. The intersection of Stuart Ave & Commonwealth Ave does not meet the traffic volume requirements for an all-way stop. This study also included a seven year search of the DMV crash data base. DMV did not show any reported crashes.
