- Staff · October 9, 2023Gaps in traffic for pedestrians to safely cross is a key issue. Marked crosswalks alone are insufficient, since pedestrian crash risk may be increased by only providing a marked crosswalk. We must consider using other treatments, such as traffic signals with pedestrian signals where warranted to improve crossing safety for pedestrians. A traffic signal is a capital expense and not planned at Three Chopt and Kensington. Therefore, a marked crosswalk is not planned.
