Description
I’m so tired of filling out these requests with nothing getting done to control the speeding in our neighborhood. We don’t want police presence for one week. We want something solid in place to curb the speeding down Laburnum Ave. People are consistently swerving around me when I’m going the speed limit (just now in the school zone) or when I’m trying to pull into my driveway. The speeding is out of control and someone is going to get hurt.

- Staff · September 14, 2023One of the duties of Traffic Engineering (TE) includes making sure traffic control devices are proper along public streets. For example on Laburnum that includes the appropriate regulatory and warning signs, traffic signals, beacons, pavement markings, etc. Laburnum generally has speed limit signs after major signalized arterials such as Brook. TE also advised the local City Council representative of the sampled speeds which led to a Council Resolution to install enhanced speed fine $200 signs along Laburnum Ave in the residential section. TE will field review and ensure the applicable signs are installed along the corridor. TE also passed your RVA311 request to a Police Lieutenant.
