Description

People speed up and down 20th street all day. My home office faces the intersection with R Street and I see many near misses every day. Traffic speeds up and down 20th and cyclists, children from the elementary, school buses, etc use R Street and are in constant danger with the traffic on 20th. Stop signs and/or speed bumps at several intersections on 20th would be best for safety.

The 85th percentile speed, the speed that 85 percent of drivers travel at or below, is one of the best indicators of a reasonable and safe speed. The 85th percentile speed on 20th St between Fairmont Ave and Q St for a 48 hour period averaged around 28mph. This sample is in compliance with the posted 25 mph speed. Speed tables are not planned.
