Description

People are flying through here daily. Children cross here for school in the morning with no crosswalk/no pedestrian signs. This stretch scares me as two accidents have occurred in the last two years and numerous close calls.

Gaps in traffic for pedestrians to safely cross is a key issue. The average daily traffic on Westover Hills Blvd is 16,000 vehicles a day. Marked crosswalks alone are insufficient, since pedestrian crash risk may be increased by only providing a marked crosswalk. We must consider using other treatments, such as a pedestrian signal where warranted to improve crossing safety for pedestrians. A traffic signal is a capital expense and not planned at Westover Hills Blvd and Bassett Ave.
