Description

I have witnessed fender benders and many near misses with vehicles turning left onto Hamilton Street from the road that runs behind the new Hotel at the corner of Hamilton and Broad. During rush hour, the traffic backs up in both southbound lanes at Broad Street so that anyone making a left turn has no visibility to traffic heading northbound on Hamilton and they pull out in front of that northbound traffic. Prohibiting left turns during rush hours seems to be a solution.

Evening peak hour observations concluded that minimal left-turning traffic affected queue length from eastbound Mastin Street onto southbound Hamilton Street, and northbound Hamilton Street onto westbound Mastin Street. No turn restrictions will be implemeted. The Mastin Street stop sign will be moved in front of the curb and a stop bar will be installed.
