Description

Intersection of 32nd & Marshall is hazardous and should be considered for a 4 way stop. It is very difficult to cross Marshall due to low visibility with both restaurants on the corner. I have seen many near accidents involving both cars and pedestrians at this intersection. With the volume of people at this intersection between Alewife, Grisette, and the school a block away, there should be better traffic control for cars and a more visible pedestrian walkway.

The Department of Public Works (DPW) must perform an engineering study in accordance with the Federal Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) before installing an all-way stop. All all-way stops must meet the warrants in the MUTCD. The intersection does not currently meet the traffic volume requirements for an all-way stop. An eight-year crash search revealed no reported pedestrian crashes at Marshall and 32nd St. No parking signs are planned on Marshall at the intersection to enhance intersection sight distance.
