- Staff · May 9, 2025The DMV crash database for reported crashes in the last eight years (1.1.17– 12.31.24) on Terminal Ave between Richmond Hwy and Belt Blvd showed one reported ‘sideswipe opposite direction’ type crash. These are the type of crashes that may support the installation of ‘Do Not Pass on Double Line” type signs. Given the crash history, the straight alignment of Terminal Ave, centerline, edge lines, and 11’ travel lanes these type signs are not currently planned. Vehicle classification counts on Terminal Ave between Richmond Hwy and Belt Blvd do not support restricting trucks. The 85th percentile speed, the speed that 85 percent of drivers travel at or below, is one of the best indicators of a reasonable and safe speed. The 85th percentile speed sample on Terminal Ave between Richmond Hwy and Belt Blvd measured 32mph. The samples are in general compliance with the existing 35-mph speed and a speed reduction is not planned. DPW will plan to install several 35mph speed limit signs along Terminal Ave between Richmond Hwy and Belt Blvd.
