Description
This is a residential neighborhood but it is used as a cut-through for everyone between two main roads (Jahnke and Westover Hills Blvd.) No one pays attention to the speed limit signs or the speed table in the middle of the street. The speed table only causes more issues because people hit it and loose control of their vehicles. There have been multiple totaled cars including mine. This road needs to be turned into a one way. RPS needs to quit using this road as a cut-through to get to WHES.

- Staff · April 22, 2023Afshin, please investigate.
- Staff · August 2, 2023* DPW applied level 2 strategy on this section and installed a speed table on Clarence St for traffic calming purposes. * The latest three-year crash history (from 1/1/2020 - 12/31/2022) on Clarence St between Jahnke Rd and W49st revealed two PDO and one B crashes. * No KA crashes reported during the latest three-year crash database. * Field reviewed and all needed signs exist. No further action at this time. Per neighborhood traffic management guideline "Education can be a logical first step to address speeding concerns, as in many instances, the drivers observed speeding or driving recklessly are residents in the neighborhood. The community can advocate and use educational tools that encourage their local drivers to slow down. Resources are available from local, state, and national organizations and agencies, including Bike Walk RVA, the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles, and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. These resources can be shared with neighbors, businesses, and local leaders and elected officials to promote safe driving practices."
