Description

Hanes Avenue between 2800 block and 2700 is a known speed zone. Many drivers use it to bypass the light at North Avenue and Brookland Park Blvd as there is a straight drive with no stop sign. There are a very large number of school age children on these blocks. Requesting a speed hump on the 2800 block before the 2700 block.

The focused approach to speed management considers speed tables on streets at least 1200’ in length. On streets below 1200' speed tables are not effective as the prevailing speeds are lower on short segments. Given the all-way stop sign at Essex and the distance between stop signs along Hanes a speed table is not planned.
