Description
Due to limited parking near the Veil building, many people park across the street (where the Locker Room is located) to enjoy businesses and the playground near the Veil and Blanchards. Crossing Forest HIll Rd is very dangerous and speeding is a significant issue. There are currently no crosswalks or any other basic pedestrian safety measures in place in this section of Forest Hill Ave. This is a risk to public safety.

- Staff · January 4, 2024Gaps in traffic for pedestrians to safely cross is a key issue. Marked crosswalks alone are insufficient, since pedestrian crash risk may be increased by only providing a marked crosswalk. We must consider using other treatments, such as traffic signals with pedestrian signals where warranted to improve crossing safety for pedestrians. A traffic signal is a capital expense and not planned. Therefore, the City has no plans to mark a crosswalk on Forest Hill in the area of the Locker Room. Crosswalks and pedestrian signal indicators are located at Jahnke and at Westover Hills.
