There are no plans to reduce the speed limit on Main St. The statutory speed limit is the legal speed limit unless otherwise posted on the highway. In business and residential areas, the statutory speed limit is 25 mph. Traffic signal progression speeds determine the pace of an urban street. The traffic signal system progressions downtown (green waves) are set to work at 25mph along the corridors such as Main St so motorists should be encouraged to drive 25 mph to catch the “greens waves” along these corridors.
