Description
I've been commuting this way for 7 years, and it's one of the most dangerous intersections in the city, especially when travelling south from Pilots Lane to North Ave. The approach angles are such that it creates significant blind spots, along with parked cars on the Northeast side of the intersection making it very difficult to cross. Due to the angled nature of the intersection, many cars improperly use turn signals when they are going straight across the intersection. Possible Roundabout!?!?

- Staff · April 21, 2023Eddie, please check with Mike. I believe there is some conceptual approach to this intersection.
- Staff · March 28, 2024The latest nine years of crash data (1.1.15-12.31.23) from DMV shows five reported crashes. 2017 = 1 2020 = 1 2021 = 2 2022 = 1 North Ave and Pilot Lane have stop signs and stop bars. Several No Parking signs exist on the south curb at North to enhance intersection sight distance for vehicles leaving the stopped condition and heading north. “Intersection Ahead” signs have been added on the free flow street (North/Hazelhurst). Intersection improvements are not in the draft 2025 Capital Improvement Plan.
