Description

I just witnessed another car accident along Belvidere. This is the 4th accident in the last 30 days. Today, I witnessed a black car driving at 90+ MPH, hit a car and drive off. This particular intersection (between Spring Street and Belvidere and the belvidere bridge) constantly has speed violations. Some easy solutions: policing (particularly on nice evenings), another stoplight at Holly St., decreasing the speed limit (which increase between VCU and the bridge, encouraging speeding.

DPW recently reviewed the Belvidere St corridor and installed several “reduced speed ahead” and “speed limit” signs between the James River and I-95. No further signing actions are planned at this time. The RPD have been alerted about speeding. A pedestrian hybrid beacon is planned on Belvidere near the War Memorial.
