Description

The ped crosswalk is dangerous crossing Broad St on the west side of N 18th St. The ped signal turns on at the same time as the green light for cars turning left from N 18th St onto E Broad St. It is a short green light, so drivers speed up to race thru the intersection. They frequently ignore, don't see or don't stop for pedestrians. Add dedicated time for the ped signal while all drivers have a red light or lengthen the green light for drivers crossing E Broad St so they don't speed through.

I started my investigation on this request. I need the crash reports from the RPD. I will add an update here once I receive all the data I need, and when I am done with the analysis.

Dear Citizen, Thank you for sharing you concern with us on this issue. I completed my investigation on this request. The signal timing issue will be resolved by implementation of the ongoing Citywide Retiming Project. Based on the crash reports from the RPD, in the past 3 years, there was no accidents involving pedestrian crossing in this intersection. So, no further action will be taken at the moment. We will conduct another intersection safety analysis for this intersection in a 12-months interval to check if there are any safety issues or accidents involving pedistrian crossings.
