Description

The sign keeps getting knocked over, and sometimes there’s a sidewalk sign of a stop sign to help with people running the stop sign. It’s extremely dangerous when E Cary doesn’t have a stop sign and I’ve almost been hit on multiple occasions. Luckily I yield each time from experience. There needs to be a GIANT sign that you can actually see. Also the bike lane needs some sort of stop sign since it’s a 2 way bike lane. I’ve had 2 people almost fly into my car because they don’t stop.

17th St northbound is a one-way street with a two-way bike lane. Traffic controls northbound for vehicles includes a ‘stop ahead’ sign and a ‘stop’ sign. The bike lanes have ‘stop’ signs and ‘stop bars’ in each direction. DPW must perform engineering studies in accordance with the Federal Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) before installing an all-way stop. The latest three full years of DMV crash data (1.1.21 – 12.31.23) shows one reported crash. The intersection of Cary St and 17th St does not meet the MUTCD traffic requirements for an all-way stop. Additional stop signs are not planned at this time.
