Description

The is one of the main pedestrian/biker accesses for community and school members accessing Mary Munford. I understand this is a capital expense, and what I thought these requests were for. Please let us know what we can do to add to the budget or pay for by raising community funds. It is a matter of time before a tragic accident happens and we have the ability to make that accident cause minimal damage if we put in the proper signage. Please don't close this request - but reach out to discuss.

The DPW engineering study showed the intersection of Grove and Commonwealth met the federal warrants for a traffic signal. DPW will now seek funding for design and construction.

DPW will recommend to Richmond Public Schools that two school crossing guards be assigned during peak school times for students to safety cross Grove Ave at Commonwealth Ave. None of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) crash and traffic volume warrants were met but the School warrant was met. The School warrant states that before a traffic signal is installed consideration shall be given to the implementation of other remedial measures such as warning signs, flashers, school crossing guards, etc.
