Description
There are a number of deep sinkholes in the alley at the corner and directly behind my house at 525 N 1st Street. The other side of the alley borders the Hippodrome on N 2nd Street. The sinkholes are a hazard to walkers and cars, and when it rains, the standing pools breed mosquitoes. This is a public health matter as well. I have raised this issue last year, and nothing has come of it. These repairs must be done before the hot, wet weather. Come and see for yourself. first request was DPW00009429; second request 000101398; nothing has been done in going on one year. The alley has not improved. I will open a new request, with updated photos.

- Staff · February 23, 2023After inspecting this location today, Roadway will perform asphalt pothole repairs in this alley until cobblestone repairs can be completed.This alley is very narrow so we will need to time to schedule so we can utilize the correct equipment in order to enter the alley. We will need 60 days to repair.
- Staff · March 27, 2025CIP repairs are needed in this alley. Funding for cobblestone repairs will need to be allocated. Roadway Maintenance will perform temporary asphalt repairs until a CIP project is funded for this alley.
