Description
Please lower the speed limit on Brookland Parkway. 35 MPH is sugnificantly less survivable than 25 MPH. This is a residenyial street with bike lanes.

- Staff · November 19, 2021The Department of Public Works (DPW) must perform an engineering study in accordance with the Federal Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) before changing a speed limit. The MUTCD is a federal publication that applies to all streets open to pubic travel. - The MUTCD is adopted by reference in accordance with Title 23, United States Code, Section 109(d) and Title 23, Code of Federal Regulations, Part 655.603, and is approved as the national standard for designing, applying, and planning traffic control devices and is applicable to Virginia, pursuant to Va. Code § 46.2-830. - Virginia Code § 46.2-830. Uniform marking and signing of highways; drivers to obey signs; enforcement of section. - The Safe and Healthy Streets Commission of Richmond Virginia adopted by Resolution on January 16, 2019 to follow Federal and State Requirements found in the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices. Engineering studies do not recommend changes to the existing 35mph on Brookland Parkway at this time.
