Description

Traffic speeds along Belvidere as if it was a highway and did not intersect with residential streets. People turning off of Belvidere onto Holly do so at high speeds, dangerous for those traversing the Linear Park. There are frequent car crashes here; recently a person was killed. This stretch of Belvidere is a menace and a hard stop here is needed to slow traffic down.

DPW reviewed the Belvidere St corridor last year and adjusted speeds and installed several “reduced speed ahead” and “speed limit” signs between the James River and I-95. No further signing actions are planned at this time. A pedestrian hybrid beacon is planned on Belvidere near the War Memorial
