Description

Request for a speed hump on E Broad St to reduce excessive speeding alongside residential street and Chimborazo Park. There are not any stop signs along E Broad St that stretches the length of Chimborazo park and multiple vehicles have been witnessed speeding dangerously around to pass other vehicles despite multiple pedestrian walkways and families crossing the street with small children - there is a very high potential for an accident or hitting a pedestrian.

All-way stop installations must meet the criteria in the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD). This is a federal manual used by all fifty states to evaluate traffic control devices for streets open to public travel. I reviewed the intersection of Broad St and Chimborazo Blvd earlier and it does not meet the conditions set forth in the MUTCD for an all-way stop. Speed samples show a speed table is justified. I will seek approval from the Fire Marshall.
