Description

As a citizen who frequently commutes through this area, I have observed numerous motorists not yielding to the current traffic patterns and ignoring the stop sign. After speaking with residents from a recent auto accident, they agree that this particular intersection of North Ave & Pilots Ln should become a 4-way stop, to reduce automobile accidents and have an overall better follow of traffic.

All-way stop installations must meet the criteria in the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD). This is a federal manual used by all fifty states to evaluate traffic control devices for streetsopen to public travel. I have reviewed the intersection of Hazelhurst Ave and North Ave and it does not meet the conditions set forth in the MUTCD for an all-way stop. We have existing intersection ahead signs.
