Description

Please place a Stop for Pedestrian sign in the middle of the road, like has been done in multiple other locations in the city. This intersection has a higher rate of pedestrian use, had two near fatalities in 2018 even with the walk beacons activated.

    DPW has a federal safety project to install "STOP for pedestrians" signs at 55 high incident locations selected across the City. The selected locations had a high number of pedestrian crashes. We will evaluate the effectiveness of the new signs and the sustainability after three months of data and input from the public before installing more signs. VDOT is also planning an effectiveness study with three years of before data and three years of after data
