Description

Stop for Pedestrian signs need to be installed in the middle of the crosswalk to have drivers at least stop when someone is crossing. Many families take regularly cross at this intersection to access the VMFA and the VA Museum of History and Culture, and to take their children to school. Drivers speed down Kensington to catch the lights at Belmont and Arthur Ashe Blvd. We need further protections for people crossing the street.

DPW has a federal safety project to install "STOP for pedestrians" signs at 55 high incident locations selected across the City. The selected locations had a high number of pedestrian crashes. We will evaluate the effectiveness of the new signs and the sustainability after three months of data and input from the public before installing more signs.
